Your Solar Return

Every birthday the Sun comes home to the exact spot it held when you were born. The sky it returns to sketches the year ahead — from a birthday alone.

What is a Solar Return?

Your birthday isn’t only a date on a calendar — it’s an astronomical event. Once a year the Sun travels all the way around the zodiac and arrives back at the exact degree it occupied the day you were born. That moment is your Solar Return, and the chart cast for it is read as the shape of your coming year, birthday to birthday.

The clearest thing it tells you doesn’t need your birth time: the Moon’s sign at the return sets the year’s emotional keynote — what you’ll need, what your heart will orbit — and it changes every year because the Moon moves fast. On top of that, the planets touching your natal Sun at the return name the year’s driving forces: a Venus year of love and worth, a Mars year of drive, a Saturn year of building something real. Add a birth time and place and we can also raise the return’s rising sign and houses.
